Destination: Excellence is a cafeteria style program designed to help employers focus on safety, accident prevention and early return to work for injured employees. The program allows employers to select from seven program options to customize a plan that addresses each employer’s specific needs. Options include:
Industry Specific Safety Program
An incentive program that helps employers improve safety by focusing on the risk of injury and developing a plan of prevention. Participating employers are eligible for a 3% rebate upon completion of an online safety and claims management self-assessment and one, two, or three safety activities based upon an employer’s payroll.
Transitional Work Programs
Employers may receive a performance rebate by returning injured workers safely back to work using an approved transitional work program. Employers can achieve a premium rebate of up to 10% based on accommodating restrictions in claims with dates of injury within that policy year.
Employers that have not received a transitional work grant are eligible to apply to receive grant monies to offset the cost of working with a certified transitional work developer to establish a formalized, written transitional work program.
Drug Free Safety Program
The Ohio BWC offers a premium rebate to eligible employers for implementing a formal drug free and safety program within their company. With two levels of participation available, employers are eligible to receive a 4% (Basic) or 7% (Advanced) rebate for implementing the required components of the program.
Employers who join their local safety council can receive a premium rebate for participation and/or performance by meeting specific attendance requirements and improving their claims history. Eligibility for one or both rebates is based on an employer’s rating program for the given year.
Vocational rehabilitation (VR) emphasizes restoring or maximizing the injured worker’s abilities and minimizing long debilitating absences from work. VR focuses on returning the injured worker to the original employer. If that is not possible, rehabilitation services can help the injured worker identify skills and abilities to secure a new job with another employer. Employers benefit by defraying rehab costs through the BWC surplus fund.
